From strategic HRM to sustainable HRM?Exploring a common-good approach

The emergence of sustainability discourse has provided new avenues and momentum for human resource management (HRM) scholars to extend existing lines of enquiry and to generate new ones. This has led to a surge of research interest in sustainability in the last decade, not least as a response to the growing environmental concerns and, more recently, to the Sustainable Development Goals launched by the United Nations in 2015. Increasingly, businesses are expected to pursue several goals, economic, ecological and social, instead of profit alone. Firms have been urged to reimagine their purpose as the licence to operate. This seminar explores the driving forces for a sustainable HRM agenda, varieties of sustainable HRM in existing literature and core arguments. It also identifies research opportunities as well as challenges in advancing the field of sustainable HRM research, in particular, in promoting common good HRM as one strand of sustainable HRM. The seminar offers several suggestions for research.

李應(yīng)芳教授(英國(guó)曼徹斯特大學(xué)博士),現(xiàn)為澳大利亞莫納什大學(xué)商學(xué)院人力資源管理和亞洲研究特聘教授;澳大利亞社會(huì)科學(xué)院院士。曾任莫納什大學(xué)商學(xué)院副院長(zhǎng)、英國(guó)曼徹斯特大學(xué)商學(xué)院教授、澳大利亞皇家墨爾本理工大學(xué)管理學(xué)院副院長(zhǎng)。李應(yīng)芳的研究興趣包括戰(zhàn)略人力資源管理、知識(shí)管理和創(chuàng)新、外包、國(guó)際人力資源管理、多元化和包容性管理、雇傭關(guān)系、移民研究、醫(yī)療保健領(lǐng)域的人力資源管理、數(shù)字化對(duì)就業(yè)和人力資源管理的影響;氣候變化、能源轉(zhuǎn)型和工作的未來(lái);可持續(xù)發(fā)展目標(biāo)和跨國(guó)公司的作用?,F(xiàn)已出版?zhèn)€人專(zhuān)著3部;發(fā)表學(xué)術(shù)論文160余篇以及學(xué)術(shù)書(shū)籍章節(jié)70余篇,多篇收錄于頂級(jí)學(xué)術(shù)期刊《Journal of Management Studies》、《Human Resource Management》、《British Journal of Industrial Relations》、《Human Relations》、《Journal of World Business》、《Journal of Business Research》、《Human Resource Management Journal》以及《International Journal of Human Resource Management》等。李應(yīng)芳在2011和2018年分別榮獲莫納什大學(xué)工商管理及經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)院的“院長(zhǎng)卓越研究獎(jiǎng)”和“負(fù)責(zé)任管理教育原則(Principle of Responsible Management Education, PRME)院長(zhǎng)卓越研究獎(jiǎng)”。李應(yīng)芳現(xiàn)任《Human Resource Management》、《Asia Pacific Journal of Human Resources》和《International Business Review》的聯(lián)合主編。她曾是DAAD(德國(guó)學(xué)術(shù)交流計(jì)劃)德國(guó)哥廷根大學(xué)訪(fǎng)問(wèn)教授(2016年)和英國(guó)倫敦國(guó)王學(xué)院客座教授(2022)。李應(yīng)芳是聯(lián)合國(guó)環(huán)境規(guī)劃署-國(guó)際科學(xué)理事會(huì)(UNEP-ISC)前瞻專(zhuān)家小組(2023-2024)的小組成員。
